Sketches by Emily, age 8
The Meaning Behind the Corelink Sun
Emily started drawing the sun symbol that is now Corelink’s logo when she was coming out of remission from her autoimmune condition at the age of eight. It serves as a symbol of hope, inspiration and healing. In medical astrology, the sign of Leo is ruled by the sun which governs the heart in the human body. In many ancient traditions, the heart is directly related to the seat of one’s soul.
About Emily
A complex childhood led Emily onto a path of exploring various healing modalities. At the age of four, a family trauma triggered a complex autoimmune illness called dermatomyositis. The musculoskeletal weakness and degeneration caused by this illness made Emily unable to walk up and down stairs, a sign to her parents that she needed medical attention, and sent her on a journey of nearly four years of medical intervention that ultimately saved her life.
Some of her fonder memories of that time include working with physical therapists at Children’s Hospital in Seattle to rehabilitate her muscle tissue and regain strength.
Continuing her studies as an adult, Emily began to stray from the more conventional styles of healing modalities and became interested in the metaphysical, esoteric and energetic foundations of healing. After a two year stint farming organic vegetables in the Puyallup River Valley, Emily decided that being in traditional educational settings was no longer for her.
She then began her studies in herbalism and bodywork in order to create the degree she sought but wasn’t offered in any established institutions. Her educational foundations continued to evolve leading her to train extensively in osteopathic style bodywork techniques (craniosacral therapy & visceral manipulation) and nutritional therapy.
